The project aims at Sustainable improvement of the situation of children in 10 districts of Karnataka State (Bangalore, Ramnagara, Mysore, Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Chitradurga, Bellary, Raichur, Davengere). After implementing the project the Children and youth are able to articulate their rights and have the opportunities and capabilities to participate in development processes. They assert their rights and voice their views on critical issues affecting them and their peers.

The project will form exclusive child forums (Child Right Clubs), and its networks at district and state level, other grass root level associations with child involvement (task forces, child safety nets), innovative models like Missing Child Search Network and collaborative actions of various stakeholders at state level.

The project strategies and actions include leadership enhancement programmes, Human Right Education in 450 Schools, Capacity Building of various stakeholders (women-SHG, Panchayth Raj leaders, Government officials, youth, teachers, NGO leaders, etc) Participatory Action Research by children and campaigns of children at district and state level for policy influence. The proposed methodologies will clearly and effectively foster genuine and meaningful child participation, child leadership and advocacy actions (collective movements through networks).

An intensive grass root level facilitation and capacity building process by a team of trained and motivated social activists is an indispensable part of the project. This will ensure the informed consent and acceptance by parents, social workers, teachers and other relevant community stakeholders for fostering children’s involvement in their development. The community vigilant groups envisaged in the project like task forces, child safety nets etc. will be an effective tool to address the challenges of cultural norms and beliefs such as child marriage, gender discrimination etc.
Human Right Education in 450 schools with a reach out of 22500 children is another highlight of the project. The project will train 900 teachers from government/private schools to impart the HRE in their respective schools

The actions will be implemented through the partnership with 10 Salesian communities/projects in the target districts. It will be a collective effort of YAR network of Karnataka.

In fact, the project intends to scale up the interventions of Don Bosco BREADS among the Young at Risk Group to wider areas. The project outcomes will help BREADS to capitalize the best practices and knowledge of our development intervention among Young at Risk group.  This Project is an opportunity for BREADS to create wider impacts with our expertise, experience and knowledge in Child Right Promotion and Child Participation.
